Brian the Amateur “Original”

I figured that it would be a good idea to release a Christmas themed song during Christmas. Then I eyed on a song with a cappella, and bam, we have silent night.

The truth about how I picked this song originated from “How I Met Your Mother”, and based on how many times this name appeared on my website, you should know how much I love this TV show. In Season 2 Episode 11, the group (Marshall and Barney) sang this song together in front of Ted’s Cousin Stacy’s house. I specifically remember that Barney altered the original note, and that was so beautiful, it left an impression on me. That’s why, you can see I have the same note as Barney.

I originally only planned on releasing this song on Soundcloud and on videos, but last I checked, “Silent Night” is considered “Public Domain” now, which is free of copy right infringement law suits. That’s why I decided to also upload it to all the music platforms. Also, it has been 6 months since I released a song to stores, so this will be a good beginning.

Since I speak four languages, as you guessed from the title, I thought it might be fun if I sing this Christmas classic using four languages. I knew all along that i am going to put English at last, so I can edit that part out for Instagram, so I placed English last. It was Austrian musicians Franz Xaver Gruber and Joseph Mohr who composed the music, so that’s why I placed the song’s original language, German, at the beginning.

Here is the order:

  1. Stille Nacht (German)

  2. きよしこの夜 (Japanese)

  3. 平安夜 (Chinese)

  4. Silent Night (English)

I have to say, I did not see that a cappella with only four of me would turn out to be this pleasing to the ear. But overall, I enjoyed making this song. It was fun!

Album Cover

This is the first album cover that I didn’t include the song’s name in it. If i did, then there would be more words than pictures lol.

I couldn’t for the life of me, figure out a creative way to feature four of me singing a cappella. I have used the formation in “The Longest Time”, and I can’t use the same stance for all a cappella songs.

Then it occurred to me: I don’t have to show all four of me. All I need is a picture of Santa and that’s it. It doesn’t really have to be exactly like real life. That’s how I decided on this picture. This is the first album picture that I didn’t draw a scratch in advance. Normally I would plan on where would I sit, what pose would I do, and etc., but for this one, I kinda just winged it. All I am shooting for is comedic effect, and it seems to work so far.
