13-Day Travel Frenzy! (2023)

This is the second time that I am writing this travel blog thing. Not because I did a specifically bad job writing the first one, no, my brand new shiny MacBook Pro decided to go kaputt while I was writing Day 5. It is working now, but who knows.

Anyways, I travelled to Shuitou, Fujian, to learn about the world of marble since I am technically a shareholder of our family business and will have to take over some day. We were invited to attend the marble show that opens annually and is actually in need to restock some of the marble slabs. My original plan was to fly to Foshan for 3 days, visit my friend Isaac on the last day, and take off; but that didn’t go according to plan. Instead, I stayed in the Guangdong area for more than 10 days.

Please enjoy my recounting of the past 13 days. There is going to be a lot of stuff about food. Yay.

Geographic terminologies:

Guangdong Province: Province of China, includes Guangzhou City, Foshan City, and Shenzhen City.

Foshan City: Where my brother in law and my nephew lives

Guangzhou City: Known metropolitan city

Shenzhen City: newly created city with the sole purpose of becoming a financial district

Fujian Province: Province of China, includes Shuitou Village and Xiamen City

Shuitou Village: A village belonging to Fujian Province and is the marble capital of the world

Guangxi Province: Province of China, populated by ethnic eaus, is right next to Guangdong Province.

Yangshuo City: It is a tourism focused city that has China’s best mountains and lakes.
